Is the product/service you are offering in high demand? In my eleven years experience, I have seen many businesses fail when they are trying to serve too narrow a niche, which doesn’t have enough searches online
Is the market saturated or underserved. An example of this is ‘Online Guitar Store’. Huge Demand, with not many online stores.
Do you have a unique selling proposition(USP)? Simply put, how do you differentiate your product/service from existing players. For example, if as a printer you offer on-demand printing at no extra delivery prices, it could build you a loyal clientile. If as a business data provider, you don’t charge a set-up fee, it will differentiate you. You need to keep refining your USP continuously to stay competitive
Does your website build confidence or does it give the ‘I AM HERE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY, COME ON, GIVE IT TO ME vibe’. Don’t make a yellow website with heaps of phony testimonials in white. It won’t sell.
Use video but don’t overuse it. It can be very unnerving to have a video play as soon as you enter a website. The video should be positioned in a way that it does not detract from the main message or call to action
Do you have persuasive content
Have clearly defined ‘call to action’ e.g, call us now, application form, free download etc. Just have two call to action elements per page and make sure that you don’t have too many elements competing for the customers attention
